Assya Yassin Ahmed, who is in her final year as a candidate for the MA degree
in Mass Communication, serves as Teaching Assistant for the Chairman of AUC's
Journalism and Mass Communication Department, Dr. Hussein Amin, who is also Senior
Associate of the Adham Center. Last year Ms. Ahmed held the Graduate Merit Fellowship
and served as TA for AUC Lecturer Dr. Naila Hamdy, AdhamOnline's Chief of Correspondents.
Ahmed is a graduate of Cairo University's Faculty of Economics and Political
Science (BA 1999), where she also minored in Computer Science. Having always dreamed
of being a reporter (as an undergraduate she chose the research assignments that
most approximated reporting), she entered the AUC Mass Communication MA program
in 2000. As a correspondent for both AdhamOnline and the Adham Center's Transnational
Broadcasting Studies Journal, she hopes to further develop her reporting skills
to complement her research work this year for the Department and for her own MA
thesis.
