Yosri Fouda Interview Causes Stir
Yosri Fouda, Al Jazeera London bureau chief and Adham Center alumni, found himself in the news when his interview with Ramzi bin Al-Sheeba, head of Al-Qaeda's military committee, was broadcast on the anniversary of 9-11.
TBS Issue 8 Examines Media in the Midst of War
The latest issue of the Adham Center's online journal Transnational Broadcasting Studies focused on media and war, with articles and interviews exploring the media's coverage of two conflicts—September 11 and its aftermath, and the recent Israeli invasions in the West Bank. Interviews included CNN Chief News Executive Eason Jordan, Abu Dhabi TV Deputy Director Mohamed Dourrachad, and Abu Dhabi TV anchorman and executive producer Jasim Al-Azzawi. TBS also talked with BBC World News Editor Jonathan Baker and others in a story on media coverage in the West Bank.
Adham Center graduate Khaled Dawoud was in Ramallah for Al-Ahram Weekly as Israeli troops re-occupied the city. He told AUC TV and AdhamOnline about his experiences.
Intifadat Al-Aqsa Photographs at the Sony Virtual Gallery
In the wake of recent events in the West Bank, the Adham Center/Sony Gallery has made this exhibition of photographs by Osama Silwadi, from a recent Sony Gallery show available to a wider audience in this special online exhibition. The Sony Virtual Gallery also includes historic photographs of King Fouad, the photographs of Lehnert and Landrock, and an updated exhibition of Van-Leo's portraits.

Dalia Ashmawi, Intesar Al-Shukry, Mervat Abou Oaf, Dina Geith, Lena El Ghadban, Nadine Hallal, Dalia Mabrouk, and Caroline Ghali received their master's degrees in Television Journalism in June.
Digitalization Donation Upgrades Studio
A generous gift from Sony Broadcast has allowed the Adham Center to complete the digitalization of its studio facilities, now renamed in Sony's honor.
Adham Center Introduces New Course in Broadcast Arabic
The Adham Center has introduced a new course for its second-year master's candidates, emphasizing reading, writing, and grammar used in the Arabic of the broadcast media. This new initiative, in cooperation with AUC's Arabic Language Institute, is designed to strengthen graduates' opportunities in the regional market, and has been warmly welcomed by the broadcasting industry, with executives of Abu Dhabi, Orbit, Dream, and NBC expressing their appreciation for the new course to Adham Center director Abdallah Schleifer.
Sony Gallery Year in Review
It was an active year at the Adham Center's Sony Gallery for Photography, where many of this year's exhibitions featured themes of spirituality and aspects of the rich history of Egypt.
Amin Chairs JRMC Department
Dr. Hussein Amin, Adham Center senior associate and professor of journalism and mass communication at the American University in Cairo, has taken over as chairman of AUC's JRMC department.
Rumi Festival
The Adham Center and AUC's Performing and Visual Arts Department co-sponsored a two-day festival featuring poetry readings, a photo exhibition, and screening of the film "Rumi: The Wings of Love" by Shems Friedlander, director of AUC's Apple Center for Graphic Communications and chairman of the Sony Gallery International Advisory Board.
In Memoriam: Michael Hoffman
Michael Hoffman, publisher and executive director of Aperture (the leading still photography gallery and publisher) and a member of the Sony Gallery's International Advisory Board, passed away this year.
In Memoriam: Van-Leo
No photographic work has been more associated with the Sony Gallery for Photography than that of Cairo's foremost portrait photographer, Van-Leo, who passed away this year.
