"On a daily basis I'm dealing with the movers and the shakers of the world, informing domestic and international viewers of the hotbed issues the Bush administration deals with." says Adham Center affiliate alumni Suzanne Malveaux, who now delivers to the whole world the news coming out of one of the globe's most intensely watched sites.

Malveaux, recently appointed CNN's White House correspondent, graduated from Harvard University cum laude with a bachelor's degree in sociology and went on to receive a master's in journalism from Columbia University.

In 1989, she came to Cairo to intern at the Adham Center for Television Journalism. Following this experience, Malveaux worked as a T.V reporter for a local Boston channel and for NBC, a major American network. In April 2002, she realized a major dream when she moved to CNN, one of the world's most prestigious T.V. networks.

At WRC-TV, NBC's local affiliate in Washington, Malveaux was primarily a reporter, covering both general news in the Washington and Baltimore metro areas and political news inside the beltway. Then she joined NBC as a correspondent reporting from Washington and Chicago. "Each step on the ladder of a news career should prepare you for the next step and at NBC it was exactly that," says Malveaux.

Her work at NBC allowed her to report on major political figures in the U.S. She traveled with former American President Bill Clinton to Africa and with Hillary Clinton to Russia and the Former Soviet Republics. She also covered domestic issues such as taxes and gun control. Among the major stories she covered were the controversy over six-year-old Cuban Elian Gonzalez, who was smuggled into the U.S, Clinton's impeachment trial, and the September 11th attacks.

In June 2002, Malveaux became the CNN beat reporter positioned at the White House. "The White House position at CNN is a correspondent's job I really wanted," says Malveaux. "It's a position that allows me to utilize so much of my experience and training as a newswoman." This position also allows her to deal directly with political figures whose decisions influence the whole world. "I'm positioned where I want to be as our world goes through some of its most trying times economically, strategically and politically."

Now Malveaux pursues her work reporting from the hottest point of her fascinatingly newsy hometown and covering the world latest conflicts. "Today it's Iraq and North Korea. Tomorrow who knows what it will be? Whatever it turns out to be, I'm ready," says Malveaux.
